The successfull candidate will repair, maintain and operate the steam and chilled water distribution systems. Maintain steam and chilled water equipment on distribution system such as, expansion joints, condensate traps, pressure reducing valves and valves of various types. Perform daily inspection on steam and chilled water distribution systems as directed.

Hiring Manager Del Morris
- Inspecting manholes for anchor conditions, lubricating, repacking and or repairing expansion joints, valves, and associated equipment on the steam chilled water distribution systems. Repairing and or replacing condensate traps and isolation valves on distribution systems.
- Knowledge and repair of Pressure Reducing Valves, safety relief valves.
- Pumping excess water from manholes, trenches on the distribution systems.
- Operating steam and chilled water isolation valves to aide company, contractors and repair crews for repairs, start-up and disconnect of service.
- Assisting the mechanical trades, welders, Utility Mechanic / Maintenance etc., in the performance of their work.
- Sheet metal, repairing, replacing and installing heat insulating materials on piping and equipment.
- Assisting the personnel in the steam and chilled water plants, and other departments in the performance of any work assigned.
- Coordinate activities with other employees to provide maximum safety and efficiency.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints and drawings for the purpose of locating steam and chilled water pipes, advising contractors and companies of location.
- Inspecting, dismantling, installing, replacing, cleaning, lubricating, packing, drilling, grinding, sawing, removing and setting of mechanical equipment related to but not limited to steam and chilled water distribution systems.
- Keeping work areas, assigned company truck, and associated equipment in good order and cleaning up after completion of work.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- A valid State of Indiana driver’s license is required.
- Outdoor work is required in various types of weather, dirt, noise and fumes.
- Confined space entry is required in high temperature atmosphere at times
- Required to participate as a member of the Confined Space Rescue Team in the Steam Distribution area
- In addition to the primary duties listed above, the employee may be called upon to perform other work, including the ability to work overtime as circumstances require.
- Must know and comply with all Company safety and health policies and procedures applicable to work performance.
- Available for twenty-four-hour repair service calls
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience of mechanical maintenance
- 3-5 years of experience in maintenance of steam piping systems
